Our story
Sárfimizdó is a settlement with medieval roots, lying on the southern edge of the Vasi Hegyhát hills, at the headwaters of the Sárvíz stream. Its name is linked to residents who paid tribute in honey and beekeeping; old charters also record forms such as Sarfeumezadou and Kysmezado.
Sources differ on the year of the earliest documented mention: the municipality's own introduction page cites 1264, while the Lechner Knowledge Centre cites a record from 1340. Alongside its medieval history, the village also carries memories of more recent times: the new school opened at the start of the 1930/31 school year, and the old courthouse building was moved to the open-air village museum in Szombathely in 1984.
What brings us together
There's no need to think big. Sometimes a little attention or half an hour is enough.
